Jayden Woods, aged 23, of Hempstead, was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Tuesday, July 11, for his role in the death of 17-year-old Omarion Jackson, according to the Nassau County District Attorney.

Woods pleaded guilty to the charges that, on the night of December 21, 2020, a group of five men – including Jackson – went to Woods’ Stewart Avenue house.

Four of the group members shot at Woods’ home and fled.

Jackson was the only member of the group who was unarmed.

After the shooting, the uninjured Woods exited his house, got into his Jeep Cherokee, and started following in the direction the group fled. He had his headlights turned off.

Only moments later, the DA’s Office said, he spotted Jackson standing alone on Dartmouth Street.

Woods fired a handgun four times out of the driver’s side window before fleeing to a nearby hotel.

Jackson was struck twice, killing him.

“Seventeen-year-old Omarion Jackson was a beloved older brother to three siblings and had a close relationship with his family,” said Nassau County DA Anne T. Donnelly.

“But his life was tragically cut short when he fell victim to a longstanding dispute between Woods and another individual Omarion was with that Monday night.”

Woods was arrested three months after the incident by Nassau County PD’s Homicide Squad.

In May 2023, Woods pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both violent felonies.
